Volunteer opportunities

I found this wonderful website whose mission is to match potential volunteers with non-profit organizations. Contacted a local organization in need of some office help, and the director promptly got back to me.

Will be going in to meet the staff to explore the volunteer opportunity this Friday.

From those to whom much is given, much shall be required.

I must admit that my track record on giving of myself is absolutely deplorable and hopefully that will change in the coming months. Please feel free to post suggestions and your own experiences.

Lunch

Walked up to the cashier at a restaurant to pick up food for the lunch meeting.

Me: I would like six orders of the chicken Teriyaki combination please.

Cashier: For here or to go?

Noah (my dog) Vanishes!?

I spent most of the New Year's Eve trying to calm Noah's nerves frayed from the fire crackers going off in the neighborhood. Even hours after ringing in the New Year's, Noah had to endure scattered piercing popping sounds.

Around two in the morning, while staring at my computer screen in search of the latest news, it dawned on me that I hadn't seen Noah for about an hour. Took a quick peek into my bedroom corner which is where he retreats to, and searched all over the house with no success. Inspected all the doors and windows to make sure they were securely shut (He has jumped through an open window when spooked in the past).

The last two possible locations were my roommates' bedrooms. They both had long gone to sleep and I had no desire to disturb them. Slowly opened the door to Dave's room to find that he had crashed with the lights on which made it easy for me to quickly browse the room and close the door. Noah was not in there.

George had gone to bed with the lights off. I grabbed the flashlight to comb the floor of the room, but still found no signs of Noah. Now I was getting concerned. Some of you know that he has gotten hit by a car after jumping the fence.

As a last resort, I flipped the light switch on to get a good look at the entire room (George is a very heavy sleeper) and found this.
