Some Misc. Stuff

Feel free to leave lots and lots of sympathy notes in comments. I will read them to him.

Thanks to my most awesome sprinkler, my Korean trash reputation may finally be behind me.

But you should see the car I drive. In car crazed Southern California, driving a 95 Toyota Corolla tends to raise eyebrows.

One of my clients put me up at a luxurious hotel during my last business trip. The valet parking attendant upon seeing me said,

"Motel 6 is right down the street, sir."

No, he didn't do that. In fact, I self-parked so as not to put him on a tough spot.

Anyone else can't get enough of the Dixie Hummingbirds?

Discovered them on rhapsody.com just a few weeks ago, and now I am completely hooked. Where have they been? Or where have I been? They have been doing this together for over 75 years. Imagine that. If you are into the folk/traditional gospel genre, be sure to check them out. They are out of this world.

Well folks, I will be offline to catch up with work for a few weeks. Hope you are all doing well.

I think my dog had a similar procedure done a few weeks back. A broken toenail? He had to wear that gauze for a while, and now the gauze is gone, but he has to wear a lampshade to keep from licking the area so it can heal. I think he likes the attention, my having to let him in and out the human sliding glass door, since he can't fit through the doggy door with his bonnet, and having his head scratched by my husband and myself since he can't do it himself. We thought he'd hate it, but now we think he's become attached, and will miss it. We tried telling him it was his own fault for compulsively licking the foot, but he seems to enjoy the "punishment." And since it is roughly one hundred and fifty million degrees here, it's not like wer'e doing much anyway.

Hate that for your dog. And I've never heard of the Dixie Hummingbirds but I'll check them out.

PS - your yard looks great.

First of all -- That is too bad about what happened to your Pal.

Secondly, I have never heard of The Dixie Hummingbirds myself. Looks to me like they may be a great group. I myself would like to hear them. I take your word for it when you say how good they are.

There is nothing more pitiful then a dog with a bandaged foot. Actually, a dog with one of those cone things is a bit more pitiful. What happened to him?
The lawn does look amazing!

Your dog is named Noah? Dear Noah, it will get better. Taser (our German Shephered pup) is finally healing and she sends her energetic sniffles, snifs, licks. Our elderly Black Lab sends her granmotherly sighs and hugs.

David - Red Bluff (my childhood home) is located on I-5 two hours north of Sacramento and 30 minutes south of Redding -- right at the Northern End of the Sacramento Valley. I still have memories Ranchers driving their long-horn steers down mainstreet to pasture.

Poor Noah! He doesn't have to wear a cone collar? That's fortunate.

I also love the Dixie Hummingbirds. Many white Americans of a certain age discovered them when they sang on a Paul Simon record, long ago.

Awwww...hugs and smooches for Noah. How did he hurt his footsie?? *hands Noah lots of doggie bones*

Glad to see your yard is looking so nice!! Very nice!

And that group looks very cool. I'll have to check out their music. I like Gospel and Christian music a lot!

Never heard of that group either.

Sorry to see Noah like that. What happened?

BTW, the lawn looks good! We're not going to have to get you that trailer after all.

To follow up l-girl's comment, I believe the Dixie Hummingbirds backed Paul Simon on the song "Loves Me Like a Rock" (that might not be the exact title). And, yes, you do have to be "of a certain age" (i.e., a fossil) to remember that.

(i.e., a fossil)

Hey! I'm not completely ossified yet. :)

Yes, it was Loves Me Like A Rock. I was in Jr High when that came out. Although I was tempted to say I was in diapers. :)

That is why I love Rhapsody.com. I got to hear Loves me like Rock. It is a delightful song.

My apologies to L-girl. I had myself in mind when I said "fossil," not you.

My paleontology is a little rusty, so I'm not sure if I would be categorized as Devonian, Silurian, etc.

That's ok. I might be more cased in stone than I know.

The orange bandage goes great with his steel-gray hair. Hope he heels quickly!

No pun intended. I meant "heals."

You know what - the sun is in my eyes. He's a beautiful brown color and apparently I'm blind. Orange still looks good with the brown.

I think I'm done.
