Jury Doody

I am just 6 months shy of turning 40. Been called to jury duty nine times so far.

Just got another notice today.

Can anyone beat that? I've met people in their 50's who have never been called.

Despite having been summoned so many times, and having reported to the courthouse every time except when I was a full time student, I have never served on a jury.

Was always the first to get ejected by the defense liar lawyer in every jury selection process I got to participate in. Okay, so I kept glaring at the defendant while breathing so heavily. Can't these guys look beyond my foul attitude and exercise some flexibility and tolerance?

This time, I will be blowing kisses at the defendant and his/her lawyer.

Wear a "Jesus is God" tee-shirt...they probably won't even let you in the courtroom :P

I'm not trying to get out of it. But not a bad way to go, if you are.

I've never been called. That having just been said, they probably just dropped my card in the mail.
Has some of the attributes of a holiday, if it's drawn out: time off work, food is brought in for you, meeting new and exciting people, change of scenery. If it goes to TV, you have the possibility of being "discovered".
Good luck!

Food is brought in for you? That must be a Cananda thing. I have never heard of that here.

So you probably should not wear the leathers and chains this time.

After I stop wearing those to church.

I don't think the judicial system is fond of smart mouth brothas. I havent been called once. And I'm 41-42, somewhere in there.

I have been called twice or maybe three times and have served on a jury once. Serving was cool for the first three days, but then it got very old after that.

One time I got called to jury duty. It was before the "one day one trial" system. I had to be there the whole week and into the next. The one redeming factor was that the week I was there, it was jury appriciation week.
We all sat around in a dreary room in down town L.A. and stared at each other while a less than excited city agent called out raffle numbers periodically. The lucky folks who got their number called got to go home. There were little streamers around the room and a few sad looking balloons one day.
The whole experience was surreal. I never did get on a jury. I must have looked too eager.

I was called 3 times, so you beat me. I have never been asked to serve.

I have been told it is because my profession is social work- they ask that on the card that you fill out.

apparently no prosecutor wants a social worker on the jury....maybe next time I'll lie.

I really want to watch a trial.

I have been called 9 times for County court jury duty, and 2 times for Federal service, which is a month long.

Trust me, it's not fun. BUT...you get paid better for Federal.

I have never served on a jury though. Just had to go through the whole voir dire process every time. *sighs*

I just finished a whole month service in August.
